Sustainable Streets bike education programs.

Course Overview:

Copenhagen CyclistsConfident City Cycling (CCC) is designed to give cyclist’s age 14 and up the confidence and skills to ride in all types of city traffic situations. League of American Bicyclists (LAB) certified League Cycling Instructors teach this practical two-part program.

CCC1 is a classroom-only presentation. Instruction includes the principles of bike handling and gearing, hazard avoidance, proper lane positioning when sharing the road with motorized traffic, and useful tips for year-round riding including simple bike adjustments and repairs. Please bring your helmet, bike not required. This class is a pre-requisite for CCC2.

CCC2 teaches participants hands-on techniques for adjustment and repair of common problems, followed by parking lot drills for better bike handling and hazard avoidance. The principles of lane placement and riding with motorized traffic will be reviewed and then practiced on neighborhood streets in a managed group ride.

Participants who pass the full course receive a LAB certificate of completion.

Course Fee (CCC1 & CCC2):

$50 students / $75 all others

CCC1 will be held on the following Saturday’s from 10 AM - 3 PM:

February 20, April 17, May 15, July 10, Sept. 18, Nov. 6

CCC2 will be held on the following Saturday’s from 9 AM – 3 PM:

February 27, April 24, May 22, July 17, Sept. 25, Nov. 13

At the present time all classes are held in Santa Monica or Culver City. The location of classes will be provided when you preregister for a course.

Confident City Cycling is a bike education program of Sustainable Streets, a California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation. All net proceeds are used to advance Sustainable Streets towards its mission of building healthy communities by encouraging people of all ages and backgrounds to engage in active transportation for their everyday mobility needs.
